Camp has long been supported by a core group of churches and individuals. Josh and Kaitlin are excited to bring their life experiences in education, construction, and emergency medical services to the team and allow God to use them at Camp.Īlso, in August, we are kicking off our donor drive to increase monthly support. As a staff, we are excited to see where God will take camp with this team. Kaitlin will help in the implementation of camp programs and outdoor school. Kaitlin is joining the team as the Guest Services and Program Coordinator. Josh will be our new Site Manager and will oversee the physical maintenance and upkeep of camp. We are excited to welcome Josh and Kaitlin Gustafson to the Camp Elkanah Family. Campers will no longer compete walk with traffic on the road past the shop.Īnd now we are into August… what does August bring? We know it will bring new staff to camp. With the help of a small but dedicated team, the trail started during staff week to the ropes area was completed. Our new commercial dishwasher, Hobart 2.0, was delivered and installed, ready to keep the kitchen safe and sanitary for campers. In the absence of campers running and laughing we have taken the opportunity to complete projects on a longer less stressful timeline. When usually rental groups are busy providing camping opportunities, the only sound is the sprinklers and lawn mower. Many staffers commented on how the week was just what they needed. It was a great time of seeking God through hard work and praise. During the week we had amazing worship and crying out to God as well as productive project time where we worked on painting and trail building. God did bring an amazing staff together and we had an amazing staff week. June brought the excitement of summer day camp and then the disappointment of canceling after much prayer and consideration. He has been good to Camp Elkanah during this time. Through it all, he is working for our good. God is good! In this time of ever-changing guidelines and expectations He is the one thing that stays the same. They can fit a 1L bottle at best (on each side), which is, in my opinion, perfectly suitable for one hiking trip. The side mesh pockets are designed to hold water bottles, so that you can easily access them while you’re out and about. With the Hikelite, they are positioned differently, which explains their better functionality. Now, I actually read several reviews about the Daylite backpack where people complained about items just falling out of the side stretch pockets. These pockets appear to be another improvement over the Daylite. These straps help keep the shove-it pocket in place, which is why they are not features on the smaller backpack. The larger version of this backpack (26L) has an additional set of compression straps, and they go over the side mesh pockets. You can see how that is supposed to work in the picture. On the Hikelite, these also double as a walking pole attachment point, which is another improvement on some older hiking backpacks Osprey made. Or, if it’s a wet jacket, you don’t want to put it next to the rest of your dry things! Smart, huh?īack to the compression straps. Oh, and more thing about this particular pocket – it’s great for when you want to quickly stash a spare clothing item (or helmet), but don’t really want to be bothered by opening the main compartment of the backpack. The compression straps on the side actually perform a few different functions on the Hikelite. Obviously, their main purpose is to further secure the load of your backpack, but on the larger version of the backpack, they also keep the upper part of the front “shove-it” pocket in place. SEE ON Rei Compression Straps And Benefits Of The Larger Hikelite It just lacks the specific organisation features of something like an Osprey Nebula. So, a hiking pack like this might be great for sports, but it can also double as a daily pack too. I also use this section of my packs for my laptop or electronics when commuting or traveling. After all, some people prefer water bottles. And, in reality, most other hiking packs don’t come with hydration reservoirs either (including the Deuter, Osprey’s German competitor!). I guess it’s a good way to allow people to keep their options open. The reservoir doesn’t come with this backpack (they rarely do), and if you want to use this feature, you’ll have to purchase it separately. Unfortunately, I also have some bad news. And they also feature an internal hydration sleeve. Well, it’s good news that both Hikelite backpacks are perfectly compatible the Osprey Hydraulics reservoir.Īdditionally, both the smaller and the larger pack can fit almost any reservoir up to a 3L capacity. You all know how important it is to stay hydrated during any outdoor activity (or, you should now). SEE ON Rei Compatible With Hydraulics Reservoir Although to be forgiving of the Daylite, it was not meant as a pure hiking pack. (Although, sometimes when I get hot I even carry a portable fan!)Īnd, this particular feature is a definite improvement on the ventilation system of the smaller cousin: the Osprey Daylite. This will be particularly beneficial in the warmer temperatures hiking (or even biking) on its own can get you sweaty enough without the added pressure of a backpack on your shoulders. This backpack features a ventilated mesh back panel, that allows for excellent airflow while you’re on the move. The Osprey Hikelite series of backpacks is all about ventilation. But, as you don’t normally take my laptop on hikes, it’s not a big issue. The padded laptop sleeve, for example, is something you won’t find on the Hikelite. One way Osprey managed to keep this backpack so lightweight is that they removed some features that we loved on the Daylite. You really don’t need any excess weight on your shoulders when hiking, right? Both versions of the Hikelite are incredibly lightweight, which is particularly important because after all, this is a hiking backpack. This is one of the main selling points of this backpack. This version should be allot better, let me know if it stutters more for you or anything like that. ***PLEASE COMMENT ON PERFORMANCE AND STABILITY ISSUES IF ANY!*** Those might work better for you if your cell buffer issues are not as bad, ZAPCB is more aggressive, and might not be for you if do not need it. Several people have commented on the other Purge Cell Buffer mods, mine works differently than them, they will run PCB based on a cell change counter. (The Zeta opening has unique properties, so there might not be any others, but I can fix any issues faster if you tell me.) Please comment with any hangs you get while using this, particularly during Quests segments where you do not have control over your character like the Zeta opening so I can fix them. The most important update: IT WILL NO LONGER CAUSE ZETA TO HANG! I have also added multiple pre/post area load PCB triggers to decrease lag upon entering new areas and decrease the chances of crashes in those cases. (It will PCB at the start of VATS, this helps me at least.) This will decrease the stuttering from the original version, and maybe even decrease lag in combat. And it uses about 200 lines of logic to try and sneak the PCB call into places that you will not notice like menu screens and resets the default timer when it does so. This new version is still using a 30 second timer outside, but inside uses a 120 second timer. The original version ran PurgeCellBuffer every 25 seconds to keep memory usage from triggering a hang or crash. (If you are having memory leak type crashes it might still help you even if you are not going crazy on the hi-res.) The clearest sign that this mod will help you is if you keep getting crashed while walking around outside. This is a stability mod mainly for people using the hi-res texture packs. So if ZAPCB helps you, I am glad to have helped, if not, you probably do not need it, and if you do not just deactivate it. Look into Tweakguides, the unofficial patch here on Nexus, and the PC advice section on the Bethesda Fallout website. Do not blindly install my mod as a first step, while I am trying to make it as smart and helpful as possible, there are other things that you can do to improve stability, make sure to do those as well. If you are here you are one of the many people who are having stability issues with fallout3. Introduced Zeta-Hang safety fix.īut a word of advice first. This version added about dozens of special cases to PCB when it would help, or not be noticed, or to avoid doing so to avoid crashes and hangs. *** If this mod helps you please endorse it and spread the word so that other people who might benefit from it can find it easier. *** If you use my mod please comment on ANY issues you may be having, I am actively supporting this mod, but can only fix things that I know about! * Tightened up some paranoia related safety lockouts on PCB logic, might help some people out. * Cleaned up some stability conditions related to crashes after a door related loads, seems to work better for me now at least. This was simple enough, but cut in half the stuttering I had been seeing. * MINOR BUT SIGNIFICANT - added a preemptive 15 second PCB timer condition that only goes off when you are not moving, not turning, and not in combat.
